NO WORDS
Today, I have no words.
I am angry, frustrated and utterly gutted at the current state of the news in Nigeria. It seems like every day we hit a new low. Insecurity challenges, banditry, kidnappings, rape etc. have now become the order of the day.
After the End SARS protests, I consciously disconnected myself from talking about political issues in Nigeria; this for me was an act of self care as it was becoming too exhausting to talk about everything going on.
Today’s post is dedicated to Iniubong Umoren, a young lady who was kidnapped, molested and found dead in a shallow grave after she went for what was later discovered to be a non-existent interview. Like a lot of young people, Ini was looking for a job; she wanted a better life for herself and now she’s been taken away from her loved ones.
Dear Ini – you didn’t deserve this and I’m hoping the perpetrators of this act are brought to justice.
I pray for comfort for Ini’s loved ones and every other person experiencing such devastating loss.
Wishing you a great week ahead
Love,
Nifemi

This particular story is devastating. It is sad to see that the country is consciously bullying people to feel numb to the insecurities in the land by telling people to ‘ be careful’. The poor girl applied all care and caution and it ended badly for her.
